The Less is More Makeup Routine Every Woman Needs to Know
Gone are the days of ten step makeup routines and hard to follow tutorials that end up being more of a lesson in what not to do when in a time crunch.
Enter skinimalism, the newest movement in makeup that prioritizes healthy, glowing skin and makeup that enhances your true beauty rather than covers up who you really are. Vogue defines it as taking a few steps back, embracing multi-tasking products and committing to a more sustainable (and often less expensive) beauty routine.
Over here, we’re all for minimal makeup, more no makeup days, and loving the skin we live in.
Keep reading for our tried and true, three step makeup routine that will make you feel like your best self in just a few minutes.
1. Go foundation free, and skip the concealer too
It might sound a bit dramatic but please, hear me out! Overuse of makeup products, especially foundation, can lead to more breakouts and skin irritation, especially if you have acne prone skin. In addition, many primers, foundations and concealers contain silicone and sodium lauryl sulfate, which are known to be common irritants and pore-clogging ingredients.
Focus instead on your skincare routine, especially your cleanser and moisturizer combo, which can work wonders in making your skin healthier and appearance more even, naturally.
Choose a skin tint or lightweight tinted moisturizer or go completely bare face. Personally, I alternate, and a few times per week I go completely bare face, while other days I wear a little skin tint.
2. Find your go-to multipurpose makeup
It’s no secret that we are big fans of products that do more, in less time (and save money in the long run!) Instead of buying a blush, highlight, lip color and contour separately, try a product that does it all.
Enter Liplove, your new favorite lip color that works overtime on the cheeks and lids too. Not only is the vegan, cruelty free formula made of skin loving ingredients that will give a natural glow to any skin tone, it is the one product you can carry throughout the day instead of having to tote four different products around.
3. Finish your look with confidence and a smile.
Wearing less makeup might be an adjustment at first, but the best part is embracing yourself and your real skin. Not only will your skin thank you, real confidence is knowing that makeup is really just a bonus because you are beautiful just the way you are! Just because you’re wearing less makeup doesn’t mean you’re anything less than your brilliant, beautiful self.
