5 Ways Moms Can Eliminate Stress with the Kids Around
Hello beauties!
My name is Allyson and I am a wife, mama, Mac n cheese lover, and mental care advocate. As a mom of 3 under six, I know a lot about the importance of nurturing our family and our mind. As moms, our self care routine should also include mental care, but it can be tricky with our little ones running around. Here are my top 5 ways to decompress with the kids to prevent burnout.
1. Exercise
What is it that kids love to do? Move! Why not channel it into an activity? Go for a walk, race on the side walk, jump rope, or, my favorite, find a kid’s workout on YouTube and join in.
2. Go for a drive
You don’t even have to pack a diaper bag! For introverts like me, going for a ride with your fussy infant is relaxing. The vibrations will lull them to sleep and you get to let your brain unwind while listening to your favorite podcast or riding in silence.
3. Sing a song
Everyone enjoys a jam session but sometimes blurting out your favorite lyrics at the top of your lungs while your kids also dance around is the perfect distraction. You release tension and your kids party like it’s 1999!
4. Build and destroy a Lego structure
Anyone else a Marvel fan? As a mom to 2 boys, building and destroying blocks is pretty much in their blood. This is also a good way to let out bad vibes in a physical sense. So, are you ready to smash like Hulk?
5. Do breathing exercises with balloons
One of my favorite ways to decompress is doing deep breathing exercises, but it’s hard to complete with toddlers and an infant in the house. So, I like to get some balloons and include the family. Start by inhaling for 4 counts, hold for 2 seconds, then exhale into a balloon. You get to take deep breaths, and your kids get intrigued with watching balloons fly everywhere.
