8 Self Care Practices That Replenish The Soul

Self care is a must no matter the season. Here are eight ways you can create a routine that works for you.

1 —

Go beyond spa days and skincare.

Sure, self care can totally look like taking a bath or doing a skincare routine, but it also means healing from the inside out. Take time to explore what you need to truly be well, whether that is limiting time on social media, journaling or spending uninterrupted time with yourself.

2 —

Honor your natural patterns and preferences.

Every one is adjusting and finding their new normal. With that said, remember to give yourself grace and adjust your self care routine to fit what you need. If you are waking up earlier when you used to be more of a night owl, use that morning time to go on our walk, read, or enjoy coffee or tea while you reflect on the day ahead.

3 —

Spend time with yourself.

If you find yourself constantly needing to be around other people to feel worthy or valued, dig deeper into where that is coming from and be intentional about spending time alone. This can create more space for you to love yourself authentically, rather than always needing the validation of others.

4 —

Get real about what you need.

If you need more rest, put limits on screen time and be intentional about creating space to pause. If you’ve been heavy on doing the inner wellness work but have neglected your beauty routine, assess what beauty rituals bring you joy and do more of that.

5 —

Eliminate anything that doesn’t bring you joy.

Joy is a positive attitude. Work at removing any habits or thought patterns that don’t bring positivity. If you’re struggling in this area, one way to reprogram your thoughts is to speak positive affirmations every day. A few of our favorites are: ‘I am beautiful. I am worthy of love. I am equipped. I have everything I need to be who I am called to be. I matter.’

6 —

Go outside.

Take a walk, sit on the patio, run, walk, hike - do what you can to get some vitamin D, aka the sunshine vitamin! The benefits of vitamin D are many, including strengthening the immune system, fighting depression and even preventing heart disease.

7 —

Find ways to play.

Whether it’s art, getting active, trying something new with your makeup, or hanging out with the kids, find ways to play. This not only sparks creativity, but it can be a great outlet for self expression.

8 —

Get real with yourself.

Self care isn’t one dimensional and neither is your wellness. Be honest with yourself about what you really need to do to take care of yourself. Assess your lifestyle and get real about what you, your body, your health and your mindset needs to grow and do a little of that each day and it will add up.
